Dr Giuseppe E. Umana is a consultant neurosurgeon at the Cannizzaro Hospital trauma and gamma-knife center in Catania, and Assistant Professor at Kore University, Enna. Trained at Tor Vergata University in Rome, he holds advanced master's degrees in minimally invasive spine surgery (La Sapienza University) and in cranio-vertebral junction and complex spine surgery (Catholic University of Rome), and a PhD in Innovative Technologies in Diseases of the Skeleton, Skin, and Cranio-Oro-Facial District. Author of more than 200 indexed publications with a personal series of some 1,800 brain and spine surgeries, his focus spans brain and spine tumors, the cranio-vertebral junction, and minimally invasive spine surgery. A founding board member of the HoloMedicine® Association and an active developer and beta-tester of extended-reality surgical software, he leads the Italy chapter to advance the safe clinical adoption of holographic and spatial-computing medicine across Italy.
